SUMMARY:AI & Data Privacy
DESCRIPTION:As artificial intelligence becomes more integrated into the products we design\, it’s reshaping how users interact with technology—and what they’re giving up in return. Interfaces are becoming more conversational\, more predictive\, and sometimes even emotionally responsive. But with these advancements come important questions about consent\, trust\, and behavioral influence. \n\n\n\nIn this session\, we’ll explore the intersection of AI and privacy from a UX perspective. What responsibility do designers have when working with generative systems? How do we ensure transparency without compromising usability? And how can we design experiences that respect user agency while still embracing innovation? \n\n\n\nThis talk is for UX professionals who want to stay thoughtful and proactive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape—one where privacy isn’t just a policy issue\, but a design challenge.

SUMMARY:Art of the Prompt
DESCRIPTION:Designers have always been translators—turning complex business needs + user goals into experiences. Now\, we’re shifting more to translating human intent into AI understanding\, and it’s truly transforming how we work. In “The art of the prompt\,” we’ll explore how prompting has evolved into a strategic design competency. You’ll discover practical frameworks for using thoughtful prompt design to eliminate organizational friction\, accelerate stakeholder alignment\, and position your team as strategic drivers. This isn’t about tool tutorials—it’s about recognizing the organizational opportunities hiding in plain sight and positioning yourself at the forefront of design’s AI-native future.———————————About our speakerChristine Sheller has built her career at the intersection of business strategy and human needs\, leading brand\, product\, and design teams that create experiences driving meaningful results while prioritizing people. As the SVP of Research + Design at O3\, she partners with enterprise organizations to develop cohesive customer journeys\, and over 15+ years has demonstrated her ability to build design teams from the ground up while transforming inefficient processes. Beyond her leadership roles\, Christine actively gives back to the design community through teaching and mentoring\, and she’s particularly excited about how AI is reshaping experience design.

SUMMARY:Design Thinking & Ethical Considerations for AI Technologies
DESCRIPTION:There’s a lot of chatter about how to leverage Gen AI tools in the UX field and in our daily lives. Yet there are HUGE opportunities for the UX community to positively impact the design and creation of AI-driven technologies; we get to design *for* AI technologies. In this session you will learn some practical strategies & tactics to contribute to AI technologies through the lens of the UX discipline. \n\n\n\nAbout our speaker:Sarah Alme is a User Experience research and design leader working at the intersection of user needs\, product strategy and technical feasibility. \n\n\n\nSarah’s passion to understand and design for the user was ignited during her undergraduate studies in Biomedical Engineering at Marquette University over 20 years ago. A critical care bedside monitoring senior design project turned into a full-time role at GE Healthcare where Sarah got to travel the world interviewing doctors and nurses and designed the next-generation monitor. Many aspects of Sarah’s design contributions remain present in the GE Healthcare bedside monitors on the market today. Sarah expanded User Experience research and design expertise while developing life-sustaining implantable stimulators and drug pumps at Medtronic. Her UX design work at GE and Medtronic resulted in 9 patents. \n\n\n\nFrom 2015 to 2020\, Sarah led a UX Research team in the Sensing Hardware division at Apple. She grew the team from one lone researcher to a team of 21+ researchers with supporting teams of software\, quality and data engineering. The UX Research organization drove specifications for sensor and algorithm performance with their UX insights and generated the AI/ML data for the respective algorithms. The team supported technologies like FaceID\, TouchID\, ECG & HR\, VisionPro and many\, many more. Sarah’s description of the team’s contributions: “When the user seamlessly interacted with the product and was not at all aware of the sensor\, then the UX Research team had successfully completed the mission.” When was the last time you thought about interacting with the facial recognition and swipe technology when unlocking your iPhone?! \n\n\n\nThese days Sarah enjoys her work contributions quite differently. As founder of Makroz Consulting\, Sarah partners with product development teams to define User Experience Strategies and AI technology roadmaps that maximize user benefit and align with organizational goals. Sarah also coaches User Experience contributors along their career paths with a focus on fostering authentic\, productive and impactful cultures during a time of great change in Corporate America.

SUMMARY:Escaping the Bad Design Echo Chamber: 4 Easy Steps
DESCRIPTION:Just because you saw it on the internet\, doesn’t mean it’s good design. \n\n\n\nMany of today’s UX designers are new to the field\, self taught\, or straight out of boot camp. Others of us are overtaxed with projects or leashed by short timelines for deliverables. In cases like this\, we look online for existing work to inform our design choices. What many of us may not realize when we do this is how much bad design there is out there\, and that we may be using it to our own disadvantage. \n\n\n\nAs the UX profession grows and demands on our teams increase\, the tendency to use designs without checking them for their potential success with our specific users becomes a self perpetuating problem – the bad design echo chamber. By revisiting some essential UX skills and applying a critical evaluation\, we can move beyond social proofing to good design. \n\n\n\nAbout Our Speaker: Christene Fair \n\n\n\nAs a practicing UX designer\, Christene has worked with a variety of clients from small startups at the Harvard Innovation Labs to large corporations like CVS. Her projects have scaled the digital media landscape from web\, mobile web\, to native app. She prefers to operate with a Lean UX methodology\, embedded with engineering/development\, other stakeholders\, and product team members to bridge the gap between user needs and business goals. As an educator\, Christene was first a graduate teaching assistant in the Harvard program where she received my master’s degree. After a few terms\, she began developing and teaching my own courses – first for New England College and now at Northeastern University.
