Unpolished: UX Office Hours is a monthly, in-person gathering for UX designers and researchers of all experience levels. There’s no formal speaker and no slides—just a light theme, optional co-working, and space to talk through real work with other UX folks in Austin.

This month’s theme is AI in the Workflow (What’s Actually Working).

What we’ll focus on

AI tools are showing up everywhere in UX work—but the reality is messier than the hype.

This session is about sharing what’s actually working (and what isn’t), including:

  • Where AI has saved time or reduced friction
  • Where it’s introduced risk, bias, or confusion
  • How people are using AI for research, synthesis, design, or writing
  • How to talk about AI use with stakeholders and teams

No demos. No pitches. No pressure to be an expert.

What to expect

  • Co-working time to settle in and work alongside others
  • Office hours–style conversations around real AI-related UX challenges
  • Optional show & tell at the end (5 minutes, one example, totally voluntary)

Bring a tool, a workflow, a concern—or just curiosity.

Who should come

  • UX designers and researchers
  • Product folks navigating AI decisions
  • People experimenting, skeptical, or somewhere in between

All experience levels are welcome.

Why “Unpolished”?

Because AI-enabled UX work is evolving in real time. This is a space to talk honestly about uncertainty, tradeoffs, and learning as we go.
